FINANCIAL EDUCATION COURSES

Develop your skills in financial literacy through our range of distance learning courses, and better manage your financial affairs.

According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), only 22% of young people in the UK have basic financial literacy skills.

With experts claiming that very little changes occur from school age to adulthood, it demonstrates a need for everyone to make sure they are equipped with the right knowledge to be competent in making financial decisions on a daily basis. As a result, we decided to try and make a difference by launching our own financial education programs. Our courses are being introduced to provide choice to learners over the area of finance wanting to be learnt. With foundation courses providing a comprehensive overview across financial services and regulation, our advanced programs provides insights into more specialist topics like risk management and derivatives.

What is financial education?

Being financially literate illustrates that an individual possesses both the knowledge and skills to make sound decisions when faced with financial problems. This does not mean you need to be an expert in economics or be a trained mathematician, more so focusing on logic in practical situations.

Most of us learn key areas of personal finance at different times in our lives depending on our individual wants and needs. Since there is little provision within the National Curriculum, we instinctively learn as we go along in a reactive manner. We first begin to understand bank accounts when opening our first current account with the same being the case across other financial products and services like insurance and mortgages.

With record levels of personal debt and growing levels of choice accessible to many, being financially literate and having a firm understanding of the financial industry is now even more important.

Taking a proactive approach

Amidst changes to retirement options and a rise in access to personal credit – the need for financial education is becoming ever more important. Greater range of investment products alongside daily market movements requires people to be dynamic to ensure their financial goals are met long-term.

As we progress through life, we are faced with different financial challenges and our wants and needs change also. Everyone needs to make the most of their money in order to live their life to the fullest.  Today, most of this education takes place reactively when the decision needs to be made, often by people or companies that have different objectives to our own. By learning about these large financial decisions proactively, we can ensure that when we face the decision, we remain fully informed.
